Wai Sui (1962)

In 1962 Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution leased fishing vessel Wai Sui from Mr. Clyde J. Bristol, of Florida, to conduct experimental fishing in the straits of Florida. The fishing was done mainly in the Santaren and Nicholas channels in hope of learning the relative importance of the two channels to the northward migration of the giant bluefin and juvenile tuna. WHOI scientists hoped to discover why the fish were found in such abundance in these waters.
