About the Manuscript Collections

Attention: Please check out our new site, http://archives.mblwhoilibrary.org, to find manuscript collections, as well as many more finding aids that we have not previously been able to make available. If you have bookmarked this page, please note that this page will be removed at the end of the year.

The Data Library and Archives (DLA) collects both Administrative and Manuscript Collections. The Administrative Collections consist of materials from the various departments at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). The Manuscript Collections contain materials donated by WHOI scientists that relate to their professional, civic, business, religious, political, and social activities.

The DLA constantly receives new collections, which are processed and described in finding aids. The finding aids for the Administrative Collections are not available online because these collections may be restricted to use within the institutional community.

Online finding aids are available for those collections that have been processed.

The funding to process several of these collections was provided by a grant from the Friends of the Center for History of Physics, American Institute of Physics, including the Records of the Office of the Director.
